ARE WE DOING ENOUGH?

MISS

MINORITY

BEGINNING

Growing up in a vastly Asian town I was surrounded by a lot of people who were like me. Due to this, I never truly understood what being a 'minority' felt like. The only time I felt like this was when I was watching the news and saw other people's perception of both my religion and my background.

It’s obvious that in today’s society being: young, female and Muslim I tick all the boxes as standing out as a minority, which is why I have grown sensitive to issues that resonate with these three parts of my identity. I’ve also had the privilege of growing up in the age of social media, where I’m able to access this news minutes after it has occurred. Unfortunately, the downfall of this is how we easily we as a society become victims of mistaking people’s radical views and opinions as facts.

During university, it started to become clear how everything going on in the world was directly affecting me personally, which is something I touch on in my posts. By starting this blog I believe I will be able to share my views on issues and events occurring today, and the importance of being accepting to everyone as well as educating people on issues they may not be aware of. I hope to touch on issues including terrorism, feminism, climate change, poverty, media scrutiny, wars around the world and immigration just to name a few.

Finally, I am so happy that you’ve decided to take an interest in this blog, it’s something I’ve gone back and forth about starting and truly want to put a lot of time and energy into.

So, read, enjoy and let me know what you think.
